Please do not give your money to this company! We just got back from our vacation in Ocean City, Maryland.

The condo was filthy. I wore shoes the whole week because the carpet, floors, and rugs in the bathroom were dirty. The couches and chairs had stains all over them. Furthermore, we were charged with extra parking fees when we checked in.

We were given the wrong wifi passwords, and the list goes on and on. When I booked this vacation in March, I was on hold for almost two hours! They make it seem like they have all these great places, but they do not! They lie!

I regret giving my money to this company. They are a scam!

TAN is Good!

Most people that are posting have either not used tan or had only one trip. We've had TAN for 10-12 years and we use it multiple times a year.

Of course there are maintenance fees. Of course there are booked up places. However we rarely use our original purchase weeks because the excess inventory is hard to beat. $205 to stay in a 2 bedroom condo for a week?

Last year we booked Branson for 4 seperate stays throughout the year and it cost $800! Go through a travel agency and you'd pay that for one week. Not one month. I believe that the complaints here are more along the lines of someone who buys something they couldn't afford in the first place.

Never uses it because they can't afford it and has regrets. TAN is a good vacation club and I've spoken to people who own multiple club memberships and they claim TAN is by far their favorite. Btw there is an option to have set yearly fees but it may only be for VIP members. Because ours has never went up on maintenance fees.

There's also an option to pay around $800 just to join TAN for the excess inventory only. This is also a good option because like I said we rarely book our weeks when we can book excess.

Also you can add family members so they can book excess as well. It's a good club if you can afford it and if you have the means to actually travel.

I've been a member of TAN for 6 years. Never had any issues with any vacation and use at least 2 a year. Of course some you want may be booked but i check out at least 3 in the same area so we have options.....

Looks like you work for the company its obvious the discounts are average and if u do the maybe you save 100 bucks. Customer service is terrible.

This system is like used car sales of a time share.

They sell to people and make hard to communicate until you get tired and just pay .then you lie to yourself that you got a good deal. The whole premise is based on ego .one doesn't like to admitbthey have been had!!!!

TAN vacation packages

Purchased the 20 weeks in 2009- should have known it was a scam when all they show you are pictures taken from personal cameras to advertise their units! Many of the properties are great, but they do not care for or update any of their units!

I have stayed in 4- each with run down, dirty, old furniture and bedding. I stayed in Kissimmee villa and the Falcon house (the pool was green for the first two days), I also stayed in Williamsburg VA and the last place was Gulf Shores Alabama. The Gulf Shores unit was so bad I didn't even want to sit on the furniture and the pull out couch was falling apart! I actually cancelled my entire vacation package while on vacation there!

The property was very sorry for my conditions and they said they are privately owned so they do not have anything to do with them, but they receive complaints about that unit all the time! Not sure exactly how much $ I lost, but so glad I am finally out of it!!

Most expensive vacation I've NEVER been able to take!

Yes! I would join in!

We jointly purchased in 2011, paid all money up front to start using our weeks right away... hahaha jokes on us! We have never been able to pre book a destination, the sites always say.. location unavailable or not available for requested date!

Even a year ahead of time! We used one "leftover" week and it was a joke! We requested 2 rooms at a location in Deep Creek Maryland for 2 adults and 3 teens, when we arrived the hotel said the booking was not for 2 rooms and they only had 1 available! It was dirty and the sliding glass door leaked!

Our kids ended up on cots in corners! They were no amenities as promised, so we ended up paying booking fees of $99, upgrade fee for the one large room with 3 cots and had to dine out 3 meals a day eating out because there was no continental breakfast as promised. The pool had been closed for years, and the deck off our room was a shared space with 2 other hotel guests! No peace no privacy and nothing we could do once we arrived after a 6 hour car drive!

We have never been able to cancel our contract and threatened with collection if we don't pay our annual dues every January. $10K wasted on a vacation package that killed our dreams of being able to travel!

One lousy week used! Most Expensive vacation I ever took!

Scammed for over $10,000

Since purchasing this vacation travel plan package in the year of 2008 for nearly $10,000 for what I was told was to entitle me to over 22+ weeks of vacatons. It is now 2017 and I have yet to be able to secure one of my travel destinations.

Cancun and Daytona Beach were not successful. I just recently log into the website to check out Las Vegas possibilities and see that for me to reserve the resort here would be $550.00/week booking fees. So explain to me how, when, and where this was explained to me during the presentation or included in my contract. I've spent over nearly $10,000 and this company expects me to shell out even more?

Not to mention their annual service charges that have increased yearly to over $400.00. This was a total scam and I would gladly join any class action lawsuit to tell my story and testify.

I have enjoyed my vacations with TAN!

I have been a member of TAN for 20+ years. I have travel several times using Excess Inventory and have used several of the Vacations.

TAN works for me and I am able to share with friends and family. I did have a problem in Maui with the condo having dirty carpet. TAN had someone come and clean it while we were there. Dirty rooms, ants, etc.

are a problem with TAN's housekeeping service and the Resort's pest control and should be reported to both TAN and the Resort.

One of my favorite Resort is the Gulf Shores Plantation in Gulf Shores, Al. My family loves it and we use it a lot with the excess inventory.

Pros:
  • I have enjoyed my membership with tan

Horrible Experience... Dirty Carpet, Ants and Spiders!

We rented a unit last week through Travel Advantage Network at Dells Club Condo, Wisconsin Dells. Immediately we noticed ant bate in every corner of the unit.

Upon looking closely at the carpet, it was dirty and infested with small baby ants and noticed a spider crawling up the wall and later one that crawled into our suitcase. We were told that a refund would be issued but then after paying money to go someplace else told no because there were cigarette burns in the carpet and damage to furniture which is a BOLD FACED LIE... No one smokes in my house and no one damaged furniture. Don't complain about ants or the property manager (who had a pack of Newports on the table in the unit herself) will make up a lie to get back at you.

If there were burns in the carpet or furniture damage, it was done by the property manager herself or previous tenants. We paid to stay elsewhere during our vacation. Absolutely horrible experience and our entire trip was ruined due to this property and experience.... Our issue with the ants were never addressed by the Travel Advantage property manager.

Instead, we were blamed for something that was not done by us to keep us from getting the refund promised. Very sad.....

Still waiting for a VIP worthy facility

I purchased a package in 2006. I have only used excess inventory most of the time because of my odd schedule, and the fact that the more desirable facilities are always booked.

After three disappointing stays, I was contacted by TAN setting an appointment for an interview. It turned out to be a VIP sales pitch. My complaint was the fact that every place I stayed at was equal to a low budget motel like Days Inn. They assured me that the VIP status was what I needed.

I went along with it, but have stayed in two VIP facilities which were no better than the others. I also found out that I could have stayed in some facilities at a better price without TAN.

The same. You pay monthly.

These additional

Fees when vacationing through groupon or other sites are less expensive with better rooms. VIP is just s name to get extra money.

A Hotel Stay may be better than TAN

We've been a member (gifted to us by a parent) for several years and have used it twice. Last year at a Las Vegas condo resort and years ago on a place in New Jersey.

The NJ place was run down and not very clean. The Las Vegas room was not bad. (tip: do not sign up for the condo sales pitch. you may get a $100 gift card, but you'll lose a half-day talking to people who don't understand the word, "no.") We've looked at other places to stay in TX, Mexico, and FL and they all seem run down and out of the way.

Given the annual fee and then the rental fee TAN does not make financial sense if you don't use it at least twice a year.

If you take only one annual trip, you're better off staying at a hotel -- that leaves you much more flexibility in terms of destinations to choose from and the cost is comparable. TAN support is less than perfect, so be prepared to spend time on the phone listening to recordings.

Travel Advantage Network - Vacation Ownership Review

I would also like to be included in a class action suit. I must blame myself for getting involved with this company twice.

I originally signed a contract in 2009 for 10 weeks. We paid it off and never used any weeks. We utilized excess inventory and my in-laws used a week. 2 years after being payment free I let TAN talk me into their VIP benefits package for more exclusive travel properties, the ability to stay 3-4 days instead of full weeks, the flexibility to check in the middle of the week instead of Fri-Fri or Sat-Sat, blah blah blah!

I let my husband and family talk me into purchasing 12 weeks and 3 free with the belief that they would contribute to the monthly cost and annual fee. The family wanted to use it so I signed up again. My husband and I still have never used any weeks or excess inventory since the first time. My in-laws use it the most and reimburse us the least.

My grandmother has used excess inventory once and my father used a week. I am not a believer in this "whole sale vacation" planning. It's a complete scam and I fell for it because we are told we save money. But honestly what money is saved when you spend a total of $13,000 for vacation weeks and then have to pay additional money to use them.

I understand a procession fee of $99 but the cost of the week is $199, add on $30 per day in peak season and you have spent just about $500 for a weeks vacation and that's just for a one bedroom. Need more rooms then add $35 per day per room. $500 for a weeks vacation doesn't sound terrible but consider that each week already cost me $550 when I paid/financed the weeks to begin with and then had pay $500 to actually use it, I've spent more than $1000 for that week. I don't actually think it's worth it.

I believe I can plan a reasonable vacation without TAN especially when the resorts you want are never available when u want them and the ones you end up are sometimes *** arrangements. My mother in-law wrote a bad review with the company about the place she stayed and they gave us back a week, a "free" week. Not exactly free when I have to pay to use it when I decide to book another vacation. A better offer would have been to waive the $199 cost or the $99 processing the next she books.

So I'm disappointed in myself for getting stuck in this trap. I also seem to be the only one that thinks it's not worth it. I want to pay it off and close my account with TAN but my husband believes it would be a waste of money bc we would loose our weeks we would have paid for. I willing to accept it as a loss because I already feel we have lost so much money in this nonsense.

I don't know if you are able to sell weeks, this isn't exactly a time share that I can sell. The Travel Advantage Network and their financier TriState Financial in Wilkes Barre, Pa are making lots of money off of *** people such as myself thinking this is actually a deal. Class action suit?

Yes, want in. Signed, Pissed in Delaware County, PA.

I would like in on this class action lawsuit as well. I have paid almost $5000 and not been able to use it once.

Nothing is ever available when you want to go anywhere except for OCMD and the Jersey Shore and I live there - I don't need to travel there! Their customer service is poor too.

Guest

This is a pretty dumb comment. It is clearly your fault that you don't take advantage of the opportunities of the program.

Why would you upgrade if you don't utilize what you have?

This is clearly you and your families fault , not the companies fault. If you want to be mad, be mad at yourself for being dumb.

Guest

I could not agree with you more! This company is a HUGE rip off!!

They are making tons of money on those of us that have fell victims to this ridiculous scam. I did cancel my account because like you I have already lost sooooooooooo much money to them that I refuse to give anymore even if I did lose 12 weeks.

I never took on vacation. I am sooooooo pissed!!

Zo Ugs

I'm in the same boat and I've been in it a lot longer than you have been, since 2002! We've never taken more than one vacation a year and no one in my family wanted to use TAN even though I offered to GIVE THEM A WEEK FOR FREE.

My husband just lost his job and we can't make the monthly fees (about $40-50/month, used to be $100 per YEAR - they've been creeping up rapidly) and that is in addition to all the other fees you mentioned. VIP places were never available the last two times we tried to book. Since we financed the trip + pay add'l fees when actually take the trip - with interest, each TAN week is an estimated $2000!!! Definitely not worth it...

We've defaulted on our account and said we are willing to forfeit the remaining weeks that we paid for already (over 10!), but TAN won't let us do that, says we can't cancel the account until we bring it up to date with the monthly fees. Biggest racketeering scam ever!

Complete misrepresentation from TAN

Class action suit sounds perfect and I am on board. I have not been happy AT ALL with this scamming company.

We were even *** enough to be suckered into the VIP program a few years ago. My husband only gets the week of July 4th off so it is so difficult to get any that week. I was told by SEVERAL of the representatives that an e-mail goes out to us on Tuesdays around 2:00 when new inventory is added for OC, MD. I happened to be off work today so checked and found there were some listed but yet no e-mail.

By the time I started to book the location I wanted it was already filled. When I called I was told that I was confused about an e-mail being sent, yet I had been told that by more than 1 person and I was charged the extra charge for the holiday weekend which we had been told as VIP members would be waived. I was told today that was incorrect too. So I just spent almost $1000 today for a location I don't want because #1 - no e-mail as told; #2 - charged extra for the holiday, when we were told we would not have to pay that as VIP and #3 - was told about several changes that had been made over the past couple of years.

No *** ***. I am so livid right now I could just smash something.

So if you can get someone for a class act suit; I'm all in. This company is nothing but a scam and a bunch of liars.
